The influence of a spoken introduction about the rhetorical interpretation of a musical performance on the audience's enjoyment of that performance.

I worked on an experiment in which I wanted to find out how a lecture-recital with the rhetorical analysis of a music can heighten listener’s enjoyment of it. In this experiment I: A) performed the piece with no lecture given, B) ran a survey to measure the audience’s enjoyment, C) Presented an introduction about the rhetorical structure of the piece, D) performed the piece again, E) ran another survey to measure the audiences’ enjoyment again. The surveys were a combination of quantitative and qualitative questions. The piece chosen for this experiment was Mozart Fantasy in D minor and the lecture was a translation of the music using its rhetorical aspect.
